Obituary for Martha L. Schindler

Schindler, Martha L., Born October 19, 1924; Died September 18, 2016. Beloved Daughter, Mother and Wife. She is survived by her son, Dennis Charles Deering (Pamela) and daughter in law, Sharon Deering. She was preceded in death by husbands Charles B. Deering, Jr., R. Jere Maulhart, and E. Wendel Schindler; her parents, Hobart M. and Mary E. Laur of Mt. Vernon, IL; sons Douglas Mark Deering and John Michael Deering of Springfield, MO and daughter Christy Ann Deering of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren Douglas C. Deering, Mark W. Deering, and David C. Deering; step daughters Nancy Maxey and Diane Alonzo; step grandchildren Suzanne L. McGownd, Cheryl A. Carlson, Devin W. Maxey, and Blake J. Myers; great grandchildren Dylan M. Deering, Kristen E. Martha was a generous, gracious lady whose life touched many friends and family over her 91 years. Her accomplishments besides raising three wonderful children included working as bookkeeper for Deering Pharmacy in Brentwood, MO; working for the City of Warson Woods as city clerk (May 1969--November 1988) and as alderman (1992–1996); serving on the board of Braefield Home Owners Association and landscape committee.

She and husband Wendel belonged to Forest Hills country Club where she enjoyed golfing and playing bridge. She bowled on a team, belonged to several bridge groups, a bunco group and a social group of retired city clerks called the Use-to-Be’s. Her esthetic talents showed in the beauty of her home and garden.

She was well loved and will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 23rd from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Bopp Chapel, 10610 Manchester Road in St. Louis, MO. A graveside service will be conducted on Saturday, September 24th, beginning at 11:00 am in Kirk Cemetery, Ina, IL.
