Obituary for
Robert A. Groth
Groth, Robert “Bob” Armin, 89, of Clarkson Valley, Missouri passed away peacefully on November 21, 2016 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Bob was born to Armin and Anna Groth on January 12, 1927. He was raised in St. Louis, served in the United States Navy during World War II, and graduated from Washington University in 1950 with a degree in electrical engineering before becoming a local businessman. Bob married the first love of his life, Edith M. Elfrink, in 1966 and was happily married for thirty years until her death in 1996. Bob and Edith raised their two children, Robert and Sharon, in West St. Louis County. Bob married the last love of his life, Lee Huesgen, in 2002 and enjoyed eight years of happiness before her unexpected death in 2010.
Bob was also preceded in death by his parents, infant son James, and sister Louise. He is survived by his son Robert and daughter-in-law Jennifer of Clayton, CA; his daughter Sharon and son-in-law Rob Norman of Clarkson Valley, MO; his grandchildren Emily and Bobby Groth and Robbie and James Norman; and his brother Melvin and sister-in-law Jeanne. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Meramec Bluffs Senior Living for the extraordinary care and affection they provided during the latter years of his life.
The family will hold visitation at Bopp Chapel, 10610 Manchester Road in Kirkwood on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at St. Peter Catholic Church, 243 W. Argonne Drive in Kirkwood at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Catholic Charities of St. Louis or The Alzheimer’s Association.
