Obituary for
Donald Gene Vansickle
Donald Gene Vansickle,
Monday, February 6, 2017. Beloved husband of Judith (Judy) Vansickle (nee McIntyre) for nearly 57 years; Loving father of Kathy (David) Scribner and Lisa Vansickle, and "Grampy" to Lexie and Clayton Scribner; dear uncle to his nephews and niece; partner in crime to his much loved cousins, and special buddy to many friends and neighbors.
Don was a great business colleague to his treasured friends at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company for over 36 years. His hobbies included boating and fishing, bird hunting and playing the guitar and mandolin. He made many annual fishing trips to Canada with his great buddies and an annual pheasant hunting trip to Hildreth, Nebraska with his special friend and best man, Dean Jelden, for over 35 years. He enjoyed watching his children's and grandchildren's sporting activities, and coached both of his daughter's softball teams for many years. He had a special knack for telling jokes and playing harmless pranks on everyone he encountered and began many conversations with his infamous "Did you hear the one about?" He was an avid country music lover, an "Old Style" beer drinker and was always looking for any bargain he could find.
