Obituary for
Helen J. Taylor (Scott)
Helen “Scottie” Taylor (nee Scott)
Peacefully passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2017
Scottie was the beloved wife of the late Wallace Roth and Burton Taylor; loving mother of David (Lisa), Paul (Robyn), and the late Larry Roth , mother-in-law of Debbie Roth, and step mother of Mark (Mary), Brett (Karen) and the late Burton “Buck” Taylor, Jr.; dear grandmother of Laura (Evan) Follmer, Amy and Brian Roth; Scott (Noelle), Caitlin (Austin) Bristow, Jordan (Matt) Schwab, and Paul Roth; Heather, Jennifer, and Matthew Taylor; Katie (Brian) Eichholz, Meagan Taylor, Libby (Quint) Stevenson, Brett Bryan (Rebecca) Taylor, Erin (Joseph) Aiello; dear great-grandmother of Jude, Gus, and Elena; Eloise, Henry, Oscar, Sophia, and Charles “Scott”; dear sister, aunt and friend.
Scottie was a wonderful lady who liked lovely things. She was beautiful inside and out, and did things in a beautiful way, always using the gift of her life and gifts in her life as a means to serve God. Knitting, sewing, baking, gardening. Whether it be shorthand notes or a twice baked potato, if she prepared it, it was flawless.
Scottie was humble. She avoided the spotlight and praised those around her.
Scottie adored her sons, stepsons and their extended families. She was a picture book mom, grandma, and great-grandma, who spoiled her grandkids with wholesome food and lots of sweets.
She worried about the weather, travel advisories, birthday and Christmas gifts, family members working too hard, head colds, and on and on. She did not want anyone to get hurt or suffer. She also loved to pray, which came in handy.
Scottie had a heart of unconditional love and sincere gratitude. She knew love is a choice and that she was called to be love to others, caring for those around her with gentleness and compassion. When it came time for her to be cared for, she had utmost respect and appreciation for the staff of Friendship Village Sunset Hills.
Above all, Scottie was 100% devoted to Jesus Christ and allowed Christ to carry her through the joys, and hardships, that came her way. The wonderful people of Des Peres Baptist Church filled her favorite home and when it was time to move on from there, Dayspring Baptist Church and the ministry team at Friendship Village sustained her.
