Obituary for
Thomas Victor Frederik Frome
Beloved son of Victor Frome and the late Brigitte Frome, step-son of Karen Frome, brother of Christopher Frome and brother-in-law of Sheila Frome, cousin and friend to many.
Tom was born in Hanau, Germany into an Army family. As an Army brat he moved around a lot living in California, Indiana, Georgia, Washington DC, back to Germany as a teen and finally settling in Kirkwood. He attended Kirkwood High graduating in 1984. He was an active athlete playing soccer, hockey, and football. After graduation he followed in his father’s footsteps by joining the U.S. Army. He was stationed at Ft. Riley in Kansas as a mechanical engineer supporting the Big Red 1. He continued his interest in machinery and electronics by attending ITT Technical Institute. He graduated with honors with a degree in Robotic Engineering. He worked in the manufacturing industry traveling the Midwest and various overseas Robotic installations. Including Argentina, Mexico and Canada, but his favorite was Torino, Italy. In Torino he spent several months working and enjoying the good Italian lifestyle and love life. Tom enjoyed life. He worked hard and he played even harder. There was no sport that Tom did not try. From jet skiing to snow skis, mountain biking roller blading, snorkeling, hiking and anything else you can think of. He loved fast cars and motorcycles. You could always hear him coming by sound of his vehicles. His prize possession, a 1969 Chevy Camaro, represented his memory of his late mother. He was a talented artist with charcoal as his preferred medium. He always had a smile for people and tried to make you laugh. Tom fought a long hard battle with mental illness. He ended his own internal anguish by taking his own life. We take comfort in knowing that he is finally at peace in the arms of a loving God.
The family will receive friends at Bopp Chapel on Tuesday July 18 from 4PM until 7PM.
