Obituary for
Robert P. Baine Jr.
Baine, Robert P. Jr (Bob) baptized into the hope of Christ Resurrection on Monday, July 31, 2017. Bob was born in Chicago, Illinois and grew up in Louisville, Ky. He moved to St. Louis in 1947 and graduated from St. Louis University High School, St Louis University undergraduate and St. Louis University Law School. He spent 4 years in the USAF as a captain during the Korean War. Once back from service duty, Bob practiced law in St. Louis. During his career, in 1962, Bob ran for US Congress. He took two cases to the US Supreme court (School Bus 1963 and Kulmeyer vs Hazelwood 1984). He made a Senate bid in 1976 and a bid for Missouri Attorney General in 1980. Additionally, he was on the county election board from 1976-79. Bob was a founding charter member of the Ozark Lake Regional Health Center (1975-2011).
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Maureen Riley, dearest father of Robert (Susan), John (Peggy), Mary Mattingly (Steve), Maureen Rose, Charles (Heather), Meg Sippel (John), Maura Fox, Molly Lyons (Robert), and Mia. Grandfather of Sarah (Alan), John Jr, Whitney, Robert IV, Michelle, Patrick, Erin, Nick, Rachel, Maggie, Jack, Mary, Genevieve, Kevin, Camille, Emily, Joe, Danny, Kelsey, Will, Gabe, Oliver and Penelope.
We are grateful he was able to make it to 60th wedding anniversary with Maureen on July 31st. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to Fisher House which help military and veteran families (www.fisherhouse.org).
Visitation Sun., Aug. 6, 4-8 pm at BOPP CHAPEL, 10610 Manchester Rd., Kirkwood. Funeral Mass Mon., Aug. 7, 10:00 am at St. John Bosco Catholic Church, 12934 Marine Ave., St. Louis, MO 63146. Please meet at the church. Interment, Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
