Obituary for
Robert J. Rooney
Robert J. "Bob" Rooney, 77, of Sunset Hills, MO died peacefully on Monday, August 7, after a 14 year battle with Parkinson's and Lewy Body Dementia. Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Bob was born in St. Louis, MO on May 11, 1940, the second of three children of Zella Couch. Bob served in the National Guard and was a master craftsman and Custom Home builder for over 50 years of fine distinctive luxury homes. He loved his craft so much as stated best by one of his friends who said, "Bob talks about woodwork like a jeweler talks about diamonds."
Bob's proudest title was "daddy." To his children he was known to define, mold, instruct, encourage, correct, build character, bring security, laughter, hope, grace, love and so much more. He stretched all those who knew him to really live and embrace life. To serve and love people well and to raise up talent, to see more in you than you can see in yourself. Bob was a true visionary and dreamer. He was an artist and a craftsman. He had a sense of humor that could bring down the house with a phrase, a word or an expression. He brought fun and joy to everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed and because of his faith will be seen again when he is met again in the Heavenly realms.
Bob is survived by his wife of 59 years, Charlene; their son: Robert J. Rooney Jr., daughter: Shannon Mette, daughter in-law: Sonya Rooney, son in-law, Keith Mette, grandchildren: Jonathan D Mette, Jordan Mette, Rachel Rooney, sister: Joyce Snyder (all from St. Louis) and many many family and friends. Preceded in life eternal by: son: Kurt Alan Rooney, mother: Zella Couch, step-father: Walter Couch, and sister: Marian Stammer.
