Obituary for David Paul Krajcovic MD

Krajcovic, Dr. David Paul, Sr., passed away peacefully yet unexpectedly in his sleep early Friday morning. Born in St. Louis, David graduated from Southwest High School before he attended Washington University for undergraduate and medical school. He lived his entire life in St. Louis except for a one-year internship in Pittsburgh. He completed his surgical training at Barnes Hospital, Washington University. He started as a general and vascular surgeon at St. Luke's Hospital in 1974, and was planning to retire June 30th... David was a voracious reader and lover of classical music, gardening, American history, and all things Abraham Lincoln. In addition to his beloved wife of 42 years, Sandy, he is survived by his children: David, Jr. (Katherine), Lisa, Michael, Stephanie (Christopher), Jennifer, and Tracy (Dean); his sister, Diane (Ed), and sister-in-law, Benna (Richard). He leaves behind twelve grandchildren: Michael, Daphne, Noah, Ellie, Madison, Hariett, Isabelle, Ben, Zach, Albert, David, and Lillian. He spent his entire career at St. Luke’s Hospital, where he was a physician, colleague, leader, mentor, and chief of surgery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Luke’s Hospital. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2018, from 4-8pm at Bopp Chapel in Kirkwood. The family plans to hold a celebration of life at a date undecided.
