We were saddened to read of James’ passing. Our heartfelt sympathies to James’ family, especially his wife Carol, during this time of loss. What a wonderful example for us all 62 years of marriage together is! How comforting it is to know we will be reunited once again with all of our loved ones during the resurrection mentioned at John 5:28,29. At that time how wonderful it will be to experience this happy promise: "...And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. I knew Jim through his involvement with the Commodity Markets Council (CMC) in which Jim had been a long time board member, advocate and supporter. I have been involved in identifying and accessing various folks from the commodities industry to get involved in CMC. Jim had a comment he made to me one day at a CMC event in Miami a few years ago saying, "in order to get anyone involved with CMC, it will take multiple touch points with them to be successful in attracting them"...from my years of experience in accessing key resources for various types of clients, Jim could not have more correct...you need to build fabric in relationships in getting to know them in a variety of contexts in order to truly build long-term lasting relationships and no one knew this mantra and lived it every day than Jim Layton...He has made a lasting impact on those who knew him and he will be missed...Peace and best wishes to Jim's family...Patrick S. Carol & family: Mac just informed us of Jim’s passing. We were at their place on the 25th of May, having attended our granddaughter’s graduation, and learned of Jim’s hospitalization. My condolences to Carol, Melissa, Jay, Todd and the Layton family on the passing of husband & father Jim Layton. My professional and personal life spanned 30+ years with Jim. Back initially to the Clayton Commodities days. Most recently the Commodity Markets Council. His passion made CMC the great organization it is today. He was a true futures industry leader & 'character' in the best sense. Always looking out for everyone's best interests. And fun to be with.
