Obituary for William E. Kapp

William E. Kapp
Kapp, William Edward, 88, died peacefully on December 2, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. As a lifelong member of Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, Bill served for many years as a Sunday School teacher and usher. Bill is survived by his beloved nephews and nieces Thomas Kapp (Lynn), Daniel Kapp (Anne), Cindy Buchschacher (Mark), and Sherry Mitchler (Steve).

Bill was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on November 24, 1928. His parents Charles Hugo and Emma Kapp along with brother Charles Henry Kapp (Dorothy) are previously deceased.

After graduating from Beaumont High School in 1946, Bill was employed by Western Union as a switching clerk. In 1954, he joined the U.S Army and served with distinction in the Signal Corps. Following his stint in the U.S. Army Bill returned to Western Union where and was subsequently promoted to Shop Foreman. In 1965 Bill joined Marco Sales, a Carrier distributor, where he was employed as a Senior Draftsman and Design Technician until his retirement in 1993.

Bill lived most of his adult life in Ferguson, Missouri. When not working or at church, “Uncle Bill” could be found spending time with his nieces and nephews who were very fortunate to have him as a role model and integral part of their lives. Other interests included following the baseball Cardinals on KMOX, taping old radio shows, gardening, and reading his Portals of Prayer.

Bill joined the Laclede Groves community in June 1997. He volunteered in various capacities prior to moving to the Care Center. He was recognized for his baritone voice and positive attitude.

His family wants to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Laclede Groves for the loving care and compassion provided to Bill.

Visitation at Laclede Groves Chapel 723 S. Laclede Sta. Rd, 63119, Tues. Dec. 6, 9 a.m. followed by funeral at 10 a.m. Interment New Bethlehem Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to Lutheran Convalescent Home Auxiliary (723 South Laclede Station Road, Webster Groves, MO, 63119).
