Obituary for Frank John "Frank" Hellwig

Frank John "Frank" Hellwig
Hellwig, Francis (“Frank”) John, Sr., at 94 years of age and fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, died Tuesday, January 7, 2021.

Devoted husband of Patricia Hellwig (nee Hurley) for 58 years prior to her death in 2008; dear father of Ellyn (Bill) Armstrong, Ted (Diane) Hellwig and Frank (Mary) Hellwig; dear grandfather of Emily and the late Stephen Armstrong, Nicholas (Becca) Hellwig, Kristina (Brandon) Poston and Lindsey (Chris Wirth) Hellwig, and Elise Hellwig and Luke Hellwig; dear great-grandfather of Sadie, Jude and Leona, and Caleb and Reece; dear brother of the dearly departed Mary (Leo) Rechtien and Theodore; dear uncle, cousin and a friend to many.

Frank was a WWII Navy veteran, having served overseas (briefly). He was a great coach for his children’s sports teams. He was a great provider for his family, having worked as a mechanical engineer until he retired. Frank was a devoted husband even after Pat’s death, having a glass of wine “with” her nightly and he was an avid (if not repetitive) storyteller.

He was one of the good ones and truly will be missed by all.

Services: A celebration of Frank’s life will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, PO Box 863765, Orlando, FL 32886. Arrangements by BOPP CHAPEL
