Obituary for
Robert Earl Frost
Born Bobby Earl Frost at home in Eastland, Texas, July 18, 1934, Robert Earl Frost legally changed his name when he joined the United States Marine Corp. Robert Earl Frost was a daring fighter pilot, successful businessman, devoted, loving husband to Elaine, and beloved father to Leslie, Robert, and Bert, and grandfather to Abi, Zoe, Kathleen, Cokie, Lauren, Bruno, and Esther, and uncle to David Frost, Donna Frost Fischer, Lee Allen Sneath, Robbie Sneath Echols, and Wayne, Paul, and Mark Frost.
Robert Earl “Bob” Frost, the seventh child of Fanny and Dallas Frost, passed away quietly in his home January 5, 2017. As one of his dearest friends in St. Louis said, his was the passing of a “great soul.”
A decorated Marine with 12 years of service, Bob flew more than 200 missions in Vietnam. He flew the Phantom F4, a fighter jet with a maximum speed of 1,473 mph. After his service, Bob worked for General Electric for 25 years, first as a corporate pilot and then as a sales and marketing representative with GE aircraft and helicopter engines.
After he retired in 1996, Bob continued a new venture he began with his son Robert that combined his love of real estate with his big heart for others. He set up contracts with tenants that if they paid rent every month for twenty years, Bob signed over the house for $1. Three tenants became homeowners.
Bob was also a dedicated volunteer with Meals on Wheels. He was a member of the Kirkwood United Methodist Church.
Bob loved to tell stories and sing his songs, traits his family and friends will remember with joy and love. As a young man, he was curious about the world and when he traveled to the Philippines and Japan as a Marine, he immersed himself in local culture.
Visitation will be at Bopp Chapel, 10610 Manchester Rd, 63122, Monday, 4-6:30 p.m. January 9. Funeral services will be held at Kirkwood Methodist Church, 201 W. Adams Ave. 63122, at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 10. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the USMC Toys for Tots program or Mercy Home Health and Hospice.
