Obituary for Michael Andrew Richter Sr.

Michael Andrew Richter Sr.
Michael “Mike” Andrew Richter, Sr., of Kirkwood, Missouri, passed away on February 7, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his loving wife and life companion of 53 years, Barbara (nee Salsich); his children, Michael Richter, Jr., Tricia (Rodney) Harrison, Chris (Heidi) Richter, Jen, Josh, his grandchildren; Quintin, Josh, Jr., Mikayla, Sam, Madeline, Zachary, Jack, Natalie, James, Sophia, and his siblings Ron Richter (Chris), Patricia Bauer (Jim-deceased), Anne Szvery (Ralph), Mary Pecher, Paul Richter (Tina).

Mike is remembered for his many accomplishments and contributions to the St. Louis community. He was the founder of Children's Factory, a manufacturing company of soft play equipment for pre-schools and day care centers that began in the attic of his home with his wife. Based on his innovative design and creative manufacturing, he was recognized by Ernst & Young as the Entrepreneur of the Year in 2001. He sold his business in 2006 to be with his family and to continue his dedication toward the education of vulnerable children. We want to thank all the doctors and nurses of Mercy Hospital and Hospice as well and the wonderful caregivers of StaffLink.

Funeral Mass Monday February 13th, 10am at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to De la Salle, Inc., at http://delasallestl.org/support/ or Access Academies at https://accessacademies.org/donate/.
