Eugene L. Schneider
Eugene Louis Schneider passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family and special caregivers on July 27, 2019. He was born June 3, 1930 to Julius and Clara (nee Werz) Schneider in St. Louis MO. Beloved husband of 60 years to Betty (nee Ludwig), cherished father of Eileen (Danny) McClendon, Diane (Frank) Joubert, Carol Leeker (Richard Wood), and adored grandfather of Chelsea (Adam) Price, Leah McClendon, the late Cassandra Leeker, Rachel (Justin) Carbaugh, Brandon Leeker, Kyle McClendon, Rebecca Joubert (Dan Capotosto), and four great-grandchildren. He was also a dear friend to many more and is dearly missed by all.
Gene graduated from Christian Brothers College High School and attended Washington University. He was employed at Ralston Purina in the Research Department as an analytical chemist and lead programmer. Gene was a key player in the establishment of Research 900, which later became Nestle Purina Analytical Laboratories. He was also in the Army and Reserves where he taught radio repair during the Korean War. After his retirement from Ralston Purina, he founded Gemini Information Systems, specializing in laboratory information management systems. Gene was a 58-year member of the American Chemical Society and involved for many years with the Jewish Geneological Society of St. Louis. He gave freely of his time to mentor and help family, friends and anyone seeking his guidance. Gene enjoyed researching genealogy for his family and others with interest in their family history.
Visitation on September 5, 2019 at Bopp Chapel, 10610 Manchester Road, Kirkwood, MO 63122 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral celebration September 6, 2019 at 10:00 am. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park, Affton, following the celebration. Gene requested that memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
