Obituary for
John S. Convy Jr.
John S. Convy Jr. or “Jack” to those that knew him well, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2019 at the age of 77. He was born September 2, 1941 in St. Louis, Mo. The beloved husband of Carole E. Convy (nee Wolff), dedicated and loving father of Jennifer (Keston), Julie (Edward) and John Convy III (Branka). Super special grandfather to Carter, Coen, Oliver, Hazel Mae and Gavreel. Dear brother to Donel J. Convy. Loving uncle, father-in law, brother-in law and fantastic buddy to many dear friends. He is preceded in death by his mother Helen Mary (nee McLeod), father John Sr., brothers Dennis and Michael Convy.
Jack attended Chaminade College Preparatory School, St. Louis University High School and Kirkwood High School. He was a proud and loyal member of the Sprinkler Fitters Local 268 Union for the past 57 years and co-owner of Fire Assurance Inc. for 30 years, leaving his fire protection mark on many important buildings in St. Louis such as the Thomas F. Eagleton U.S. Courthouse in downtown St. Louis. His love for nature and animals was exemplified in his devotion to supporting his children with showing horses, enjoying many canine companions over the years and country living. He served as the president of the Broken Arrow Appaloosa Association for many years.
Jack’s favorite passions included drag racing and sharing the love and enjoyment of building cars and racing with his buddies. He spent many years with his childhood friends and later in life meeting weekly for lunches and sharing in life and stories with them. His buddies fondly nicknamed him “Chief”. Jack encouraged family to stick together, to be kind, loving and inclusive. He will be remembered for his smile, big baby-blue eyes, and loyalty to family and friends. His generosity and remarkable ability to move mountains to make good things happen for many has made a lasting impression on his children and grandchildren. He lived fully, played hard, and shared his generosity and love with many.
Family will receive friends at Bopp Funeral Chapel, 10610 Manchester Rd., Kirkwood, MO beginning at 10:00AM -12:00PM Friday, September 13, 2019 for visitation and then ceremony at noon. Jack was proud of his St. Louis heritage and will be inurned at Calvary Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. on September 13, 2019 in his family’s plot, next to his mother, father, and dear brothers, Dennis and Michael.
